Our Staff
Kate B. Andes, Client Services Associate

When you call into our office, you will most likely be speaking with Kate. Kate joined MWM in November of 2012 and can help you with most of your questions, or will direct you to the appropriate person when necessary. Kate is quickly becoming an expert in everything that relates to our operational partnership with LPL Financial.
Kate supports our clients with the following:
- Answering any questions about statements, accounts, and other general information
- Opening new accounts
- Accessing funds, transferring cash or wiring money
Originally from Alexandria, Kate attended St. Stephen’s & St. Agnes High School and recently graduated from the University of Richmond with a degree in Psychology. Kate also held an internship at Morgan Stanley for two summers before joining MWM. In her free time, Kate likes reading, art, and walking around D.C.
Paula K. Cooper, Administrative Assistant

Paula began as a part-time employee at MWM in August of 2011. When you get something from MWM in the mail, chances are, Paula put it all together for you. She spends much of her time tracking, preparing for and assembling important projects and mailings. Paula’s role is mainly internal, but she supports you by assisting Kate, Brittany, and other members of the staff with the myriad administrative tasks that are inherent with the smooth operation of any business.
There are occasions when you will hear from Paula directly on the following:
- Delivering prospectus and receipts and tracking returns
- Updating your contact or other personal information
- Coordinating any packages that go in or out of our office
Paula graduated from the University of Michigan with a Bachelor’s degree in Education. In the past, she has held positions as a teacher, a realtor, a sales training instructor/consultant, and a high tech sales representative for DEC, Compaq, Sun, Cisco and Xerox. Paula enjoys antiquing, exploring Virginia and the world, and spending time with her family, friends, and children.
Brittany R. Kaschak, Brand Manager

As a member of the MWM team since August of 2011, Brittany is in charge of coordinating the delivery of information from MWM to our clients and the rest of the public. In addition to monitoring and updating our website, organizing letters and email updates, creating our quarterly and monthly newsletters, tracking our mentions in the press, and coordinating our social media efforts, she is also responsible for managing our editorial calendar of content creation for blogs and other articles.
Some things that Brittany can help you with include:
- Subscribing to any of our content, such as blogs and emails
- Connecting with us on social media
- Changing your email settings and communication preferences with MWM
Brittany graduated from James Madison University in 2011 with a Bachelor’s degree in Communication Studies, and a concentration in Organizational Communications. She also completed a minor in Spanish, as she studied abroad in Valencia, Spain. Brittany loves travelling, dance, music festivals, outdoor activities, and spending time with her family.
Kimberly A. Mann, Operations Manager

Kim started at MWM in 2009. She is responsible for two important internal functions: compliance and bookkeeping. In this capacity, she helps MWM to keep the trains running on time, and makes sure that we are always protecting our clients by complying with all rules and regulations. Her ability to focus on this essential part of our business allows the rest of the staff and partners to focus on our clients.
Kim has much experience with MWM’s client services and can help you by:
- Assisting with administrative support when Kate is out of the office or unavailable.
After raising her two children, Kim discovered the administrative position at MWM and decided it was a perfect fit. In her free time, Kim enjoys spending time with her family, reading, and knitting.
Kristen E. Owen, Wealth Management Associate

Kristen joined MWM in December of 2012 as our Wealth Management Associate, a new role for 2013. She is a CFA Level II Candidate and is a member of our Asset Management Committee, which is headed by David B. Armstrong, CFA. Kristen joins the partners in many client meetings in order to learn more about our clients and the overall business. This allows her to take a more active role in working with Ann and Spencer to manage in-depth client services including asset allocation analysis, portfolio performance reporting, and auditing the synchronization between each client’s financial plan and investment portfolio.
Additionally, Kristen is helping us solidify internal workflow processes and is heading some major projects that we have going on at MWM which will improve overall client service and communication efforts. Look for her to begin writing some of our U.S. News & World Report blogs this spring.
Kristen can help you with:
- Answering your financial planning and asset management questions
Originally from Ohio, Kristen completed her undergraduate degree at Kent State University in 2007, and then completed her MBA at American University with a concentration in Finance. She has experience in retail banking and investment management, corporate finance, and is a CFA Level II Candidate. Kristen enjoys playing an active role in the D.C. community as a member of the CFA Society of Washington and the Kogod Women in Business. In her free time, she enjoys traveling, watching sports, reading and cooking.
Spender D. Rand, CFA, Asset Management Associate

Spencer started at MWM in December of 2012 as our Asset Management Associate, a new role for 2013. He is a CFA Charterholder and a member of our Asset Management Committee, which is headed by David B. Armstrong, CFA. Once the Asset Management Committee decides to make a change in one of our portfolios, Spencer is the one who executes the trades. He is also in charge of creating our client portfolio performance reports. To help ensure that portfolio performance is meeting the goals outlined in our Private Wealth PlansSM, Spencer coordinates closely with Ann and Kristen.
Additionally, Spencer is our primary research associate and is heavily involved in the economic research that is essential to making decisions on our strategies. He will also begin to write some of our U.S. News & World Report blogs this Spring.

- Questions about performance reports
Spencer graduated from Principia College with a B.A. in Computer Science and Business Administration, and is a CFA Charterholder. Prior to joining MWM, Spencer was a Senior Analyst at Gallagher Fiduciary Advisors. He is currently a member of the CFA Society of Washington. In his free time, Spencer enjoys exercising, playing the guitar and spending time with his wife and daughter.
Ann G. Schnorrenberg, Ph.D., Financial Planning Associate

Ann joined MWM in April of 2012 as our Financial Planning Associate, which was a new role last year. She is also our resident Ph.D. and a member of our Financial Planning Committee, which is led by Dean J. Catino, CFP®, CRPC®. Ann focuses on every aspect of our Private Wealth PlanningSM process, which includes data compilation, Private Wealth PlanningSM scenario analysis, and rebalancing client accounts. Ann collects all of the data from our Private Wealth PlanningSM meetings and assembles it into an official Monument Blueprint for our clients. To make sure our Private Wealth PlansSM are working in conjunction with our portfolio performance reports, Ann works closely with Spencer and Kristen. You will also be able to read Ann’s U.S. News and World Report blogs, which she will begin writing this year.
Ann can assist our clients with:
- Any financial planning issues or questions
- Questions about setting up or using our EMoney client web portal
- Any changes to your personal situation that require us to update information in our planning software
- Setting a meeting to review any aspect of your plan or corresponding investment strategy
Ann attended the University of North Carolina where she received a B.A. in International Studies, and then moved on to Columbia University where she received a Ph.D. in Economics. While raising her four children, Ann volunteered at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church as Treasurer. Ann likes to spend time with her husband and four children, travel, kayak, and read.
